Many of the best attractions lie close to Médano Beach, the Boulevard Marina and around Cabo San Lucas coastline in general, including seasonal whale watching cruises, endless opportunities for both scuba diving and snorkelling, and also deep-sea fishing, where you are almost guaranteed to catch plenty of big fish, such as marlin, wahoo, sailfish and even tuna.

Other notable tourist attractions around Cabo San Lucas include cruises on glass bottom boats and enormous catamarans, helicopter tours, glass blowing, bungee jumping, horseback riding, coastal trails suitable for both hiking and cycling, the resident sea lion colony off Land's End, and a humane version of traditional Mexican bullfighting.

Cruises / Glass Bottom Boats

Cruising around Cabo San Lucas Bay (Bahia de Cabo San Lucas) is a great way to relax and sightsee, with sunset cruises always being a popular attraction. Also available are cruises on huge catamarans, which depart from the dock at the Hacienda Beach Resort, fun pirate-themed cruises on a historic sailing ship that is more than 100 years old, and luxury dinner cruises, which often past Lover's Beach and Land's End whilst you enjoy fine dining. Glass bottom boats, whale-watching tours and champagne breakfast cruises are also available and well worth considering.

Water Sports

Various water sports are on offer around Cabo San Lucas and many suit those with a taste for excitement. Offering breathtaking views across the Baja Sur Peninsula and the Sea of Cortez, parasailing is a huge attraction for tourists around Medano Beach where parachutes can reach heights of 30 metres / 100 feet or more. Other water sports attractions include water skiing, jet skiing, sea kayaking, canoeing and more.

Baja Bungee

Those who like to enjoy exciting and thrilling attractions should consider a bungee jump from the Baja Bungee, which is close to Medano Beach. At almost 30 metres / 100 feet in height, there are superb views around Cabo San Lucas from the top of the Baja Bungee tower. Crowds often gather at the bottom of the tower to watch the brave bungee jumpers, so if you are not brave enough to jump yourself, this attraction may still be worth considering, particularly if you are sunbathing on Medano Beach.

Whale Watching Cruises

Seasonal whale watching is amongst the top tourist attractions in the Cabo San Lucas region within the winter months, particularly between January and March. Many enormous whales migrate through these warm waters at this time of the year and can even be observed from the coastline at times. However, for many, the whales are best observed a little closer and numerous whale watching cruises provide the best views of grey whales (Pacific grey), which can reach lengths of more than 15 metres / 50 feet. It is also often possible to see both blue whales and sperm whales close to Cabo San Lucas and particularly slightly to the north of the city.

Helitours of Cabo San Lucas offer one of the best and most unique ways to sightsee around the area and view the main coastal attractions from up high. These helicopter tours last for at least an hour and are especially interesting during the winter months, when it is often possible to spot groups of migrating whales nearby.

Sportfishing / Fishing

Anyone who has even the slightest interest in fishing should consider a day spent sportfishing on the waters around Cabo San Lucas. Many fishing trips can be booked along the Boulevard Marina and around the Plaza Las Glorias, including a number of luxury yachts. Be sure to bring your camera so that you can take photos of your prize catch.

Bullfighting in Cabo San Lucas is humane and no animals are harmed during the performances. These colourful events usually take pace each Wednesday and Saturday afternoon and always draw large crowds. The bullring itself is located within easy reach of the city centre and often hosts further events, such as Mexican fiestas, rodeo cowboy competitions and more.

Scuba Diving

The best scuba diving around Cabo San Lucas is available at the Roca Pelicano, off the Playa Chileno, and at the Bahi Chileno, on the eastern side of the city. Scuba diving equipment is readily available throughout Cabo San Lucas and in particular at the Land's End Divers at Plaza Las Glorias next to the marina, and at the Cabo Acuadeportes alongside the Hacienda Beach Resort. Many divers head to Land's End and its resident sea lion colony, which is amongst the main dive attractions in this area.
